Today, let’s talk about when you’re at your best.
Hey everyone. Greg Taylor here. Just recording another good video. And I wanna talk about work efficiencies and work effectiveness, and when you’re at your best actually.
A lot of people in this startup world, and this crazy small business world and this crazy world that we all live in with business, think that working 12, 14, 15, 16 hours is a good thing. And they think that they’re working hard. And I’m not doubting their effort, because they totally are working hard. But I think my friend Chris Lamo actually said it best in his impostor syndrome talks. One of the many that I saw at one of the work camps where I attended at. We wear those long work days like a badge of honor, when actually it should be more like a scarlet letter.
So it gets me thinking when am I at my best? And the answer to me is, the answer for me is I should say, I’m at my best early in the morning. You know, it’s nine in the morning, I’ve already had three meetings. I’ve already had a Google hangout with our staff, Kevin and Jaycee. I’m already moving down the road for marketing press, and I’m off to the races. 9:15. I’m headed to run a quick errand. I’ll be in the office. I’ll be in the office until six and I’ll be done. Today is Friday. I’m going to try to enjoy a leisurely night. I’m gonna get up early tomorrow, probably do a little bit of work. Play soccer, and then take some time to recharge.
So the answer for me is, I am best in the morning and I know that. But that doesn’t mean everybody is best in the morning. So if you’re better at night, use those hours to your advantage. If you’re more productive in the middle of the day, know that, use those hours to your advantage. What you really wanna do is, make sure that you know when your maximum creativity or you’re best at solving problems. Know when that time of day is and then work around that. So don’t schedule any meetings on those days or in those times rather, unless their super, super crazy important and it can’t be moved. So know when your most effective, know when your most efficient, and work around a schedule.
